Welcome Baby Emily

Today I got to spend some time with my bestie and her brand new baby girl, Emily!  She's just 9 days old and as precious as can be!  We hoped to get some sleeping, posed photos but Emily had other plans ;)  We didn't give up and I managed to get a few.  My favorites ended up being the candid shots I got of her and her mommy in her nursery.  Those sort of shots are always my favorite.  I was there about 4.5 hours but I didn't mind because it was fun hanging out with Kyla and her new little one while our 2.5 yr olds played together.  Here are a few of my favs.

The Ramsey Family (family photo session)

One of my good friends asked me to take some family photos for her and we worked hard to make it happen!  :)  The first attempt at these photos was rained out, so today we had better weather and were able to get some cute shots!  I hope that my friend loves these, she is a picture-lover like me!

The Collins Family (lifestyle photos)

My friend Allison asked me to take some lifestyle pictures of her and her family and I happily agreed!  I will admit that I am definitely out of my 'comfort zone' when people ask me to take posed pictures of their family.  I struggle to come up with ideas and it just feels somewhat un-natural to me. I so enjoy shooting people just being themselves.  It takes the pressure off both me and the people I am photographing and makes for some beautiful images!  Today I got to hang out with the Collins family and took some shots along the way.  We had a fun time, I hope they love the photos!  You can just feel the love in these images!

p.s. I kinda went overboard on the 'sneak peak' but there were so many that I loved!

I Heart Faces~Sun flare

This week's challenge is sun flare.  Me and sun flare are not exactly bff so I wasn't super thrilled about coming up with a suitable image to enter...  I mean, I TOTALLY looooooove sun flare, I'm just not super skilled at catching it sometimes ;)
Well, the sun was hiding behind the clouds a lot today and so I went with an image I took at a maternity session.  It's not crazy sun flare, but it's there :)
(I had to edit this post because originally, I used a photo of just the belly and later realized I needed to include a face!  I mean...it is iheartfaces!)

Macrolicious Monday

So, today I received some new photog. gear in the mail!!!  Yay! :)  I have been interested in macro photography for a while but macro lenses are just a tad pricey, starting at about $700.  Then, I discovered I could get the same effect at a much cheaper price with these lovely extension tubes!  Sa-weet! 

I had so much fun playing around with them today and took lots of shots...of random things...

I have to say that macro photography is more difficult than I thought and is going to take some practice for sure!  I am excited to enter this whole new world of up-close-ness ;)

On a much different (and more serious) note, I would ask that you all say a little prayer for us if you think of it.  We received some unsettling/disturbing news today but I am unable to go into detail about the nature of it.  We definitely covet your prayers and know that it's all in God's control.  We have already seen His hand in this situation and know that He is working.
