Yogurt Lover

My little man loves yogurt. He has his own little ones, but yesterday I made the mistake of leaving mine out... He found it & helped himself! Sorry about the noisy/grainy pics, I just grabbed my camera & started shooting. It was too cute to miss!!!

And WOW this pic is ginormous! Thanks to a sweet friend, I am making my pics bigger :) I'm just still learning how, obviously. haha hehe Oh well, the bigger the better, right? hmmmm.Photobucket

I know it's a little early...

...but I made a Christmas wreath this weekend! My mom and aunt were here visiting and we wanted to do a craft project. I took this as an opportunity to make the Christmas wreath that has been floating around in my head for a while now! The project seemed simple enough...I wanted to make a square/rectangle shape covered in green sheet moss and embellished with a few holly berries and ribbon. Well, the square/rectangle form proved impossible to find!!! So, I was very frustrated to say the least. I am one of those people who freaks out when something doesn't work out exactly as I planned! I refused to make a round wreath just because I could not find a square form and then...I had an epiphany. I would use....a picture frame! Genius, huh? I figured and 11x13-ish size would be good and was about 90% sure I had one in the garage somewhere. The problem was finding the thing. I happily found one behind the armoire in my room complete with a matte that made it just the width I needed.
Then, I covered the whole thing in brown packing paper to make a uniform surface for the moss to adhere to.

Now the moss... Ahh, the moss... (Enter problem #2 for the wreath project.) I found the sheet moss at Hobby Lobby, but it was a bit more than I wanted to pay for this project. I mean, the whole point of me making the wreath was to save money. The moss was going to cost between $16-$20, so I found some reindeer moss at the Dollar Tree and only spent $4 instead!!! (I actually bought 5 to make sure I had enough but I only used 4 packages.)

This moss was not the flat, sheet moss that I wanted but I liked the price so I got over it. It gave the wreath a different look than what I wanted and was much harder to work with, so I decided if I had to do it all over again, I would wait till the moss was 50% off at HL and get the moss I really wanted. I only recommend using the reindeer moss for this project if you have lots of patience! (And don't mind the more 'fluffy' look that it gives the wreath.)
I didn't get any pictures of the gluing on the moss process (probably because I was covered in moss and trying not to lose my mind!) LOL But, basically I just hot glued small areas at a time and globbed on the moss. It was a tedious process & I had to go back and fill lots of bare spots but I finally got it covered. Then, I added some holly berries I also picked up at HL and a red bow. Some red ribbon for hanging and it was finished!

I am looking forward to hanging it the day after Thanksgiving ;) And hoping that birds don't destroy it by stealing the moss for their nests! lol
Oh! I forgot the best part! The wreath only cost about $9.50 since I already had the frame and thanks to my Dollar Tree moss!!! If I would have found the ribbon at the dollar store as well, I could have done this for about $7 including the paper I used to cover the frame. I was excited since you can't really get a holiday wreath under $20 and usually they are much more than that!

Company's Comin' :)

My mom and aunt are coming today for a little visit and we are ready! Well, the guest room is anyway...

A little 'fall touch' to the little side table ;)

Sadly, this may be the last time mom gets such a cozy guest bed...I am planning to make this room Hayden's playroom (as soon as I get the motivation.)

It's Halloween time!

So, I have been in the Halloween spirit lately :)

And, here is a sneak peak of Hayden's costumes this year!
(Yes, I said costumes with an 's'--he has 2 this year since I could not decide on just one. He can wear one to Boo at the Zoo and one for trick-or-treating.)

Pumpkin Patch

First of all, it has been too long since I posted last! I have a little catching up to do ;)
I was so excited for Fall this year mostly because of activities I could do with Hayden. One of the ones I was looking forward to the most was the pumpkin patch! I am planning to go with friends for a playdate later in the month, but I decided to go with the school that my mother-in-law teaches at this past wednesday. They go to a big farm in Maryville and his little cousins were going, so I thought it would be fun for him (and me.) We had perfect Fall weather and it was a great time! Hayden did so well and was such a big boy. We had a long hayride, picked out a pumpkin and ate lunch. I stopped to take a few pictures, but mostly I was just enjoying my time with my little boy and watching him react to seeing all the animals and pumpkins. He is just discovering so many new things and it's so fun to experience it all with him! That little boy makes every day fun. :)

These cows were so cute out there...look at that little baby in the front! Awe!!!
Got himself a pumpkin :)
And of course he had to wear the pumpkin hat to the pumpkin patch!!! :p
Pumpkin flower...did not really know these existed. Learn something new every day I guess!
Eating lunch (a tasty soy p.b. sammich since he's not quite old enough for the real stuff.) :p

Another 'first'

Hayden got his first hairct today. It was bittersweet for me because I knew he would look like such a big boy, but his hair was getting a little on the wild side... I was nervous about how he would act since he doesn't like to sit still for any length of time lately. He did SO good. When he started to get a little restless, I gave him a dum-dum sucker (a hard decision on my part, but it was either that or risk injury from him squirming all over the place.) It did the trick and he was pretty content to just sit there and let uncle Jerry do his job! (My brother in law is a barber and I was so happy to have someone in the family give Hayden his first haircut!)

Waiting his turn :)

Happy little man
Big boy hair! :'(
